There are too few open spaces in Munich. A lack of space, triggered by gentrification and privatization processes, as well as a sustained lack of support from the city administration, lead to displacement and fewer and fewer places for self-development. Understanding free spaces, art and culture as system-relevant cannot mean reducing them to commercially successful models and a few established locations of high culture. Freelancers* and diverse subcultures must not be ignored! Long-term and sustainable structures are needed.
A lively urban society needs more free spaces for young people to experience their self-development, politicization and socialization.
